Architectural Framework

Paddington Reservoir – the viewers ‘perception’

Paddington Reservoir could be seen as an artwork or sculptural element. The way you move through the space is similar to a gallery, but the artwork is the building itself. The building slowly reveals layers of its history, and character through the materiality and connections with the old and new.
Through peoples own life experiences and views, they create a more deep and personal perception of the space, as with artworks. With no personal view or perception of the artwork or space you are unable to make judgement or comments.

World view of architecture

After reflecting on the three projects presented, a common thread can be seen which reflects my personal view of architecture. Paddington Reservoir, Spanish Step and The Farnsworth House have strong connections with the environment and their surroundings. Not only can they be viewed as architectural elements but as sculptural artworks within the landscape. The three projects all have a sculptural element, the way people come to view them, walk through the spaces, stop and sit on the steps, touch and interact with the artworks. Not only connections with the environment they then create very personal connections/ memories with the viewer.

Assignment 3 - Final Submission

With design and building technology continuously improving it is time that building documentations and construction manuals move with it. The Augmented Reality construction manual briefly goes through each of the construction phases of a development.

This innovative technology allows clients, architects and builders to view the development in a way never seen before. From this frame work, further detail, and documents can be created and viewed using Augmented Reality.

Using Build AR and 3ds max I have created the starting point of a construction manual also a very helpful design tool. Each of the building stages are animated of the associated markers. The animations give brief but very insightful view of the building during the different stages.
With 3d modelling the way of the future for our industry this tool could be used in various ways. From the design stage showing clients spaces within the building, applying materials, furniture to create a deeper understanding of the building and clarity in the design. Also each of the stages show could be further detailed to provide a 3d documentation for builders and tradesman. Augmented reality engineer details, through to interior design.

Unable to use Ipad for my markers due to the glare on the screen also Ipad image viewer has a black background so the maker boarder is not visible
